THE OFFICIAL 2016 HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE

December 9, 2016

Whalebone Magazine Holiday Gift Guide Red's Rankin D-Frame Sunglasses

Unlike the many other gift guides fighting for real estate under your wonderfully-scented Christmas tree this year, we don’t have some crazy intense, high-tech list of innovative items that’ll impress your friend who likes cars that drive themselves and socks that tell you the time. That’s not really us (unless the socks help us answer emails, too). What we do have is a nice list of really good friends—many of who grew up down the street from Whalebone—that are putting out some pretty awesome products in the world, and we’d be doing Christmas 2016 and you a disservice by not showing them all a little spotlight and love.

We’re talking fuzzy soft crewnecks that you’d be more than okay with being photographed wearing, minimalistic accessories that will up your game for 2017, swimwear for girls who are ready to be fallen in love with and a few other assorted goods that live in their own category of awesome. Mostly stuff we’ve tested ourselves and would sporadically recommend to anyone within shouting distance on the street. Luckily we’re on the internet and don’t have to shout. Here’s what we’re talking about:

RED'S SUNGLASSES: ALL THE QUALITY, NONE OF THE PRICE

Thrillist Red's Outfitters Rankin Italian Made Sunglasses

We've gotten a hold of some pretty sexy sunglasses in the past, but we cannot seem to keep our hands (or faces) off of Red's Outfitters. Started with a vast appreciation for fine Italian craftsmanship, Red's aims to reach the same iconic level as Ray-Ban or Oakley.

Each and every pair of sunglasses is handmade in Italy using polarized Zeiss lenses and luxury-grade Italian acetates. These shades are the real deal. Below is one of our favorites.

Rankin
Few companies can produce a pair of sunglasses that seamlessly mix the care-free feeling of Risky Business with the serious look of Terminator 2, but low and behold: here they are. They're heavy enough to ensure they won't fall off your dome and light enough to keep you from the dreaded eyewear migraine.
